Vehicle Diagnostic / Auto Electrician

Term: Full-time Permanent position (with 3 months probation)

Working hours: Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)

Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum

Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire

Are you passionate about automobiles and possess expertise in vehicle diagnostics and auto electric problems? We are seeking a skilled and experienced Vehicle Diagnostic / Auto Electrician to join our team in Basingstoke. As a key member of our automotive service department, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues in vehicles, ensuring their optimal performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify electrical problems and malfunctions.

  • Repair and replace faulty electrical components such as wiring, sensors, ignition systems, and alternators.

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including lighting, audio systems, parking sensors, cameras and security features.

  • Utilise diagnostic tools and equipment effectively to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.

  • Interpret electrical wiring diagrams and technical manuals to facilitate repairs and installations.

  • Collaborate with other automotive technicians and professionals to provide comprehensive services to clients.

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and time spent on each job.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Diagnostic / Auto Electrician or similar role.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems in various types of vehicles.

  • Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, components, and wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to use diagnostic tools (aftermarket or dealer tools) and equipment effectively.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications are preferred.

  • Essential knowledge of the use of multi-meter and circuit tester.

  • Good knowledge of the use of the oscilloscope is preferred (training will still be provided if not).
